Podcasts We Love

August 6, 2019

If you’re a follower of the digital age, you’d know that podcasts are HOT.  The amount of regular podcast listeners has increased to an amazing 40 Million listeners weekly.  In our industry, Wedding Podcasts are all the rave.

Just as the modern bride has ditched the giant three-ring binder and downloaded the app on their phone, they know there are better (and more efficient) ways to learn how to design a big day. Call me old school, but I personally miss the days of creating a true vision board from magazine cut outs on poster board and rough sketches of reception layouts on graph paper. The modern bride has an unlimited amount of resources at their fingertips, and wedding podcasts are just one of the many ways to receive tips and tools from the pros themselves, and even have a few laughs when you need them!

While there are dozens relevant podcasts out there, we’ve narrowed it down to our favorites. All of them are unique in their own way and we fell hook, line, and sinker for each one – call it love at first sight! From how to choose the best vendors, to finding the perfect dress, and even a few funny mishap stories, these must-know shows offer invaluable information for the bride to be. And a little entertainment.

The Big Wedding Planning Podcast

Blog-Clink! Events- the big wedding planning podcast

Michelle and Christy are pros, but don’t judge them on their banter.  These ladies are Wedding Consultants and have a wealth of knowledge on all sides of the industry.  Down-to-earth, charming, funny, witty, and informative.  I feel like I stumble upon new insight in to wedding planning with each episode. These ladies are passionate about educating the couple, putting it in perspective to avoid the little things and focus on the wedding and marriage after.

A personal favorite of mine recently is Episode 143:  Wedding Aesthetics, Where to Begin.  Michelle and Christy take you deep down the Pinterest rabbit hole and explore why designing a wedding is super stressful, and how hiring a professional (hint, hint) to design and execute your vision is crucial to investing in your biggest day.  Check it out, laugh a little, take notes.

Rock My Wedding Podcast

https://www.rockmywedding.co.uk/podcast/I’m going to get right to the point:  all my knowledge and experience falls right in line with this one.  From the UK’s biggest resource for wedding pros, real weddings, and custom design comes a podcast (and book, too) that is highly informative and needs to be on your ‘must listen’ list in the near future.  The shear positivity and confidence that exudes from hosts Charlotte O’Shea and Becky Sappor keeps me coming back for more.

A definite first play:  Series 3, Episode 3 “When Things Go Wrong, Have a Plan B”. I always say ‘being creative means having a plan B,’ and these ladies drive this point home.  Outdoor ceremony?  Small children in your wedding party?  Extremely hot temperatures melting your designer wedding cake?  Not to worry! Grab your groom, an extra glass of bubbly, and head for higher ground – let the pros handle this. That’s why you hired us. This day is about you, the couple, and your commitment to each other.

She Said Yes! Wedding Podcast

From Fitness and Nutrition, to Style and Fashion – She Said Yes! is the all-inclusive podcast for answers to everything wedding.  The hottest trends, the best advice, the smartest humor.  Trista Gruzman and Alex Rimer are with BTS Event Management in Phoenix, Arizona, and they host this weekly podcast.  Their goal was to create a platform where couples can become educated, where wedding pros can weigh in on hot topics trending, and they could share the real-life experiences with those looking for answers.

Each episode is roughly 45 minutes long, and are full of content from start to finish.  If you can see a trend here, you’d know which recent episode is my favorite.  It’s an episode from April 2019 entitled “Day-Of Coordinating: What is your Wedding Planner Responsible For?”  Alex begins by describing the process of finding a planner and their role as your Day-Of Coordinator.  How many meetings/emails/calls are typically provided, making sure all the vendors are communicating, the timeline of the day, etc.  They’re funny, relatable, and I’m here for it!

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t even know wedding planning podcasts existed until last year and boy, do I wish I found them sooner! Perfect for couples in all stages of planning, a good wedding podcast is not only a treasure trove of insider info and invaluable wedding tips, it also helps you get excited for the big day and validate your feelings of pre-wedding nerves and stress!

Cheers!

Lauren
